House K is a renovation project of a roof duplex located on a slope of Istanbul overlooking the Bosphorus. There is a master suite consisting of living areas on the ground floor, bathroom, dressing room and bedroom on the attic. The ground floor plan, starting from the entrance hall of the house, is in a flow towards the view completely on the front facade. The fireplace, living and dining areas, which receive full daylight, are directly related to each other. In the attic, the bedroom opens to the outdoors with a terrace that continues along the façade that dominates the view. The open en-suite bathroom plan allows light to penetrate as deep as possible into the loft. The walk-in dressing room located on the rear façade is the solution that enables the most useful evaluation of the roof slope.
K House was designed with the aim of creating a warm atmosphere that is spacious, oriented towards daylight and scenery, creating a ‘gallery-like’ plain background where the artworks of the owners are exhibited, but at the same time inviting to a comfortable and pleasant time. Building materials such as wood and marble were used in places to create sculptural architectural elements, and circular walls, soft corners were included in the decoration to support the flowing plan. The gray top-toned wooden herringbone parquet, wide white walls, the space resembling an art gallery dominated by black & white colors, creates a modern living space that displays its originality with its lighting installation, artworks, sculptural furniture and lighting, and a staircase that we designed as an architectural sculpture. transformed. The project, which started out with the idea of renewing all infrastructure systems according to today’s conditions, and giving the historical story of the house a modern and valuable new look, aims to establish a strong and uplifting bond between the old and the new, light and dark, plain and bold, stripped of the concept of time.
